New York City is known for its FREE summer events which includes a ton of concerts, theater screenings and movie showings. Quite an amazing perk of living in the city. Last week Joe was kind enough to go with me to the free movie showing of The Magnificent Seven at Bryant Park. I have never seen this movie before but Joe promised me I would like it. I'm not that into old western-Mexican movies but it was pretty good. Bryant Park is located right behind the NYC Public Library and is where all the fashion shows that take place in the spring and fall...if you watch Project Runway you should know what I am talking about. I arrived at the park ground around 6ish to reserve a spot with a blanket which seems a little early considering the movie started at 8:30. But with this being my first time attending one of these I thought arriving over two hours early made sense :) . So I sat there for a few hours and sweated it out since it was incredibly hot that day. And then you just wait for the movie to start, and you sit in a big green area for hours next to all kinds of people on blankets (some without blankets) and have a picnic. It is a really neat idea. There were all kinds of crazy folks there which range from families, to druggies, to first date couples, and to large groups of high school kids. As you can see in the pictures, the screen is enormous so it is hard to get a bad spot, though it does get a little uncomfortable sitting on the ground with no back rest for 5 hours. If you live in NYC I recommend checking this out, or if you are visiting the city on a Monday night during the summer.
